This piece is part of a series in wish I was focusing mainly on models in the fashion industry, questioning the modem day identity associated with beauty. The composition of these paintings are distorted to the point of being freakish, by manipulating the facial features I have tried to isolate the subject, it is in contrast to today's society where people are altering their appearance to feel more socially accepted. I feel there is a common eerie but beautiful presence to these paintings which focuses on the imperfections of these so-called enhancements of beauty in today's society. There is one strong consistent theme throughout my paintings and that is of identity and the loneliness that comes with that.

I am a painter based in London, England, working primarily with oils, my work is predominantly portraiture and figurative, embracing the solitary of the unknown and showing the awkwardness of contrasting matters. While studying a foundation degree at Central Saint Martins I became fascinated with the Art and Existentialism movement from the post-war area in Paris, this made an everlasting impression towards me and my artwork. My more recent work questions the notion of identity, shaped by a variety of subjects, focusing mainly on models in the fashion industry, I am inspired by numerous artists including Francis Bacon, Alberto Jacometti, Hannah Yata, and more recently Joseph Lee.
