ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This piece is a celebration of wearing the traditional head scarf as a South African, Muslim woman. The head scarf or head tie is of importance both culturally in Africa and religiously. This topic sometimes finds young women in South Africa with a little bit of an identity crisis. we are sometimes so consumed with the 'western' influences in our everyday lives that we stray from who we are or we forget to celebrate our unique identity. This expressive piece is a representation of ME celebrating MY identity and honoring who I am.

I am a South African artist who took up Visual arts in high school and then went from pursuing engineering to being a full time entrepreneur and self-taught artist. I make use of a lot of personal elements of my identity to create art. I create expressively and appreciate not needing to conform to the norms.
