ABOUT THE ARTWORK
The inspiration is a visit to the Louvre to see the original Mona Lisa. I was struck by the smoky tones of the browns and her glowing skin. Her eyes were mesmeric. Much later, I drew a study that I then developed into a painting. The colours I have used are more vivid which gives it a contemporary feel. The eyes, I spent a long time developing and layering.
