ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Ox is the second in the 12-year cycle of the Chinese zodiac sign. Years of the Ox include 1913, 1925, 1937, 1949, 1961, 1973, 1985, 1997, 2009, 2021, 2033... Oxen used to be capable farming tools in an agricultural society, which attach to the symbol of diligence, persistence, and honesty. In Korean culture, Ox is a faithful friend that made great contributions to the development of the society. The paintings deliver a new concept of beauty in the world. The artworks express the reality and other ideal world through my works with the desire to protect the pure and beautiful world and to share the tranquility and healing that nature can give to the audience. The forests and waters they live in are mysterious and pure spaces that we cannot invade in reality. It is closed to a paradise and a spiritual space. With imagination, I depicted the imaginary world with water, wind, air, and heaven as cosmic and weightless space, and expressed the world full of flowers and fragrance.

South Korea- born Australian artist, currently based in Seoul. "The early immigration period was difficult to communicate in the language, but the sense of isolation has driven me into creating art as another way of communication. Since then, art never left me." Since 2015, Eury moved back to Korea and started her art series that involves Korean poetic approach in fine art. The latest series contains flows and rhythms of Eastern art in the absorption of Western form, texture and colour. The artworks convey the world that may not be visible but the dreamlike imagery. The artist's recent works display a poetic space formed by fairytale-like natural environment and symbols with Korean traditional art approach, creating a hidden, mystic and dreamy atmosphere. In collaboration with her personal feelings, she recorded certain visual scenes that remembered from her dreams and imagination.
