About The Artwork

Rumors versus Mythology, the West Java people believe that Nini Anteh as a guard of moon long before American fly their flag on the moon. Anteh is a country girl who was appointed to be a friend of Princess Endahwarni (the royal heir of Pakuan, Sunda). However, Prince Princess Endahwati Anantakusuma future husband, love Anteh because of the beauty and goodness of his heart. Until the royal family to evict Anteh back to his hometown. After the prince and princess married, Prince Anantakusuma still remember Anteh as the love of his life, to leave the palace to pursue Anteh. But she reject it, and trying to avoid the Prince Antakusuma wherever he pursued. Until Anteh pray to Sang Hyang Widhi to be able to go to the moon. Finally prayer was granted, fly to the moon bring her beloved cat 'candramawat', and bringing materials for weaving cloth. Anteh be in months to old age till now, and occasionally she down to earth to deliver the weaving to the people who need it . In this painting I just comparing public confidence Sundanese with world beliefe about who first set foot on the moon (because not everyone believed that the Apollo 11 actually landed on the moon). And the answer is a purity, like a message in the form of symbol in Leonardo da Vinci's painting, The Lady with an ermine. Source : - The Lady with the Ermine, by Leonardo da Vinci, 1489–90. - West Java folklore, Nini Anteh the guard of Moon . - Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin on moon. - Cirebon Batik motif - ‘Candramawat’ Cat. - Moon landscape - Gorgeous grandma character
