The old growth rainforests of the Pacific Northwest are full of spirit, beauty and peace. I had the privilege of living among these forests for 20 years, though it truly was love at first sight. Even though less than 10% of these forests remain we have many staunch defenders to thank for their continued existence, both indigenous and settler. Perhaps in 900 years our ancestors can connect with us through the deep roots of these truly remarkable ecosystems. Because of the actions of dedicated environmental groups as well as the many admirers who walk amongst the ancients and support the cause, the seedlings of today will become the ancient wonders of tomorrow.
