ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This painting is the result of a training proposed by Rudolf Steiner. Into a yellow ground blue is introduced which describes the form and sentiment of the mother. Her regard towards the child is red and full. It was important for me to fix the colours strongly in this image. The mothers regard, and the child looking away, has something hard and fixed about it. Perhaps these aspects come from the saturated yellows.

What interests me as an artist is the process and choices of creation. I choose to paint neither from life (although I practice with portraits and transcriptions) nor from imagination. I paint out of colour, allowing it's inherent lawfulness to define the content of my work. This approach finds its closest kinship with some abstract painters, but I always seek to give my work a motif, an image.
