ABOUT THE ARTWORK
"I have always longed for someone to hold me through the nightmares. No matter how tremulous it is in the surrounding world." I didn't grow up in the happiest family. Emotionally, I was always independent, if not isolated, to the point that I felt awkward when my long-absent parents returned and wanted to build a connection. This painting expresses my inner desire of wishing there is someone who had held me through the hardest time of my life. This painting used layers of thin watercolor wash to create a cold and misty atmosphere. The usage of patterned mulberry paper created a beautiful fabric texture on the two figure's clothing.
