ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Chanterelles, boletus, maple leaves, chokeberry, yellow-red leaves, mushrooms. In autumn, I like to pick mushrooms in the forest. Boletus, chanterelles, russula. They look very beautiful from under the autumn leaves. And the smell of the morning autumn forest, rotten leaves, and moss cannot be compared with anything. Mushroom hunting is my passion.

Over the past 8 years, I have changed many places of residence. After moving, I began to think more often about my identity, who I am, what nationality and culture I belong to? These thoughts led me to the fact that, having been born in a big city, and having a complex ethnic composition of ancestors, the only thing I am sure of is the plants that I associate with home. After moving to New York City I started doing series of painting using vegetation around me. Right next to our new home in the park or on neighbouring streets or in distant areas. Masha Neverova (b. 1985, Leningrad USSR, now St.Petersburg Russia) She graduated from The St.Petersburg Art College named after Nikolay Roerich and earned her BFA from Russian Pedagogical University in 2011. From 2018-2019 she studied at The School of Contemporary Art ‘Free Workshops’ at the Moscow Museum of Modern Art. From 2020 to 2022 she attended a postgraduate art course in Sreda Obuchenia High School. Neverova participated in solo and group exhibitions in various galleries in Israel, Georgia, Lithuania, and Russia.
