My Japan Print

After reading Steve Jobs' biography I was inspired to make a great painting. Around that time I had done quite a few mediocre pictures. They were a bit rough and ready and pretty much I wasn’t really putting the amount of effort to produce something important. I had been a little lazy by not working on my pictures enough. The overwhelming message I got from reading Job’s biography was that he was a perfectionist and that he wasn’t happy to produce something substandard. I knew on this painting I wanted to do it properly and produce something important. I had actually done a lot of the hard work in the years gone by working out a solid theoretical basis for my art but I was neglecting the final product by not completing properly. I love painting images with a Japanese flavour, whether they be comical pop image or the ‘enso’ image of Zen which is represented by the hand drawn unfinished circle.
