The painting symbolizes the modern relationship: a consensual, but shallow relationship lacking genuineness. In the East, an intimate relationship is often referred to as one that is connected by an invisible line, and lines therefore can be seen as a symbolic representation of relationships. The painting shows my perception of relationships, and depicts the individual as a social being that is dependent on such relationships. The hollow emptiness of the human form shows the individual unable to perceive his own form, and unaffected by collisions with others. In essence, I was inspired to show the modern individual suffering from solitude and isolation.
