About Amparo Lopez Cruz Amparo Lopez Cruz was born in San Roque (Cádiz), in her parents’ house and grew up among the smells of turpentine and oil canvas of her grandfather’s work shop, the famous "José Cruz Herrera", Chairman of the National Arts Academy and founder of the prestigious museum that bears his name. The first Amparo’s toys were her granddad and mum’s brushes, the first smell was that of both painters’ dissolvent, her first colours discovery were those of her mum’s colour palette and those from a large number of paintings hanging on each wall at home starting with her own ones painted with much love by her grandfather. Amparo started as a child to appreciate the art of painting and developed already then a special skill in mixing colors and understanding the art of painting. She grew up as a child and a teenager watching her granddad working and learned from this universal painter the basic rules for painting. Brought up among her grandfather and mum’s paintings all along, this daily influence and inspiring environment developed her talent. The lightness of her colours, present throughout her work, shows as well the sentimental attachment for orientalism, so deeply rooted in the paintings of her predecessors. Amparo Lopez Cruz is the living proof that talent can be inherited.
