Maaike de Wild is a mixed media artist, mostly expressing herself in drawings and paintings. Her various techniques with watercolor, pastels and gold or precious metal leaves bring a very recognizable style. She uses her mediums in slightly unconventional ways to create a semi-abstract look. Maaike’s main theme can be defined as “a celebration of the feminine”. The women in the paintings express joy, freedom and sensuality. In deepest essence her work expresses the power of the natural world and the intrinsic connection with the female. She explores this connection and tries to portray an interwoven image between the female and nature.
