She purposely let the watercolor inks flow abundantly giving the outcome of her semi-abstract work a bit to chance.
Maaike’s main theme can be defined as “a celebration of women”; the women in the paintings express joy, freedom and sensuality. In deepest essence her work expresses the power of nature and the intrinsic connection with the female. She researches this connection and tries to depict a balanced image between the female and nature.
