In this work, i am inspired by the traditional cultural practices commonly found in Africa. This practice is performed by young girls turning into womanhood. This is found in the Zulus and other tribes in south Africa... in Zambia, Malawi and different parts of Africa. Though there is some bit of differences in the way they do it, one common thing is that they all practice the same thing of introducing a girl turn into a woman with flying colours especially when she kept her virginity, as well as in masculinity. i hope the viewer would see through this painting, the richness beauty of African countries, which has for a very long time preserved its beautiful practices and heritage, of valuing the stages of life which brings dignity and value to the upbringing of a child. This style and medium matters for me because i commonly work to show the energy of using unconventional materials combined with traditional materials. there is always something unique coming out of working using imagination, and experimentation on materials because most common desires with the artists is to explore and discover the uniqueness on making art as a style.
