ABOUT THE ARTWORK

The models are the artist and his son, some 30 year's ago. The painting depicts a real image of a father and son napping together on a lovely Summer afternoon. The father is dead asleep. The son is awake, peeking through the arms of his father at his mother. He may not need to sleep, but he enjoys the close embrace of his loving father on the home's best napping sofa. It's a look back, a bit of nostalgia of a great period in the life of the father when he is with his child (who is way too large and old to cuddle). I love this image so much, it's the second time I've painted it.

Kevin Trabaris is a figurative oil painter whose work captures the stories and images that expose the beauty and emotions of the human condition. Trabaris' fascination with art began as a small child, and he drew for many years. Mr. Trabaris minored in art history in college before settling into the practice of law. In 2003, Trabaris was drawn back to art and started taking classes at local art schools and at a Chicago atelier to better master representational oil painting. He has also taken many painting workshops over the years where he has studied with numerous recognized artists. Mr. Trabaris has found, to his surprise, that the years spent as an attorney has given him a personal reserve of stories, experiences and examples of human foibles to inform his art for many years to come. Currently, Mr. Trabaris is working on private commissions and preparing a body of work for future exhibition.
