Newport Beach Print

This piece reminded me so much of watching my Dad out surfing, when I was a kid. Oftentimes he would have us kids playing on the beach while he caught some waves. Sometimes he would out one of us on the top of the board and paddle out with us holding on for dear life. As you can see there is a surfer assessing the waves before paddling out. This is, I believe, is Newport Beach. We surfed many, many beaches in California. I painted from a photograph of the view looking south from the pier. I used a watered-down technique to which makes a softer tone.
