ABOUT THE ARTWORK
The mixed media Painting shows Ngoni men, women and children celebrating a successful war victory over a local rival tribe. They're clad with spears, nduku, animal skin ululating in songs and dance. The water and oil colour strokes bring out realism imagery to life. This was inspired by the N'cwala traditional ceremony the which takes place every february. The Ngoni people are an ethnic group living in present day Zambia Zimbabwe and Malawi. The Ngoni trace their origins to the Nguni and Zulu people of kwazulu-Natal in South Africa.
