ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Inspired by recents trips to the Scottish Highlands, this artworks draws upon unusual and unique species in wild places. The Northern Emerald is only found in Scotland and is distinctive for the male's calipher shaped appendages on their tales. The crimson and pinks on the wings add a subtle harmony to the brilliant emeralds of the dragonfly's body, while the minimal design and strong use of negative space suspends the creature as the pure focus of the viewers attention. This little creature is a true icon of our natural lands, one that we must cherish before it's too late as it is fast approaching endangered status.
