Duncan McKay is an artist, arts writer, arts and cultural researcher, and arts administrator, working in Perth since the late 1990s. His creative work usually evolves in series focused on familiar places, and explores the intersection between image-making and object-making. He has a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Hons.) from The University of Western Australia, a Master of Creative Arts from Curtin University, and a Doctorate in the sociology of art from Edith Cowan University. He has been a practising and exhibiting artist, and is the published author of academic papers drawing on his original sociological research on the working lives of artists in Western Australia. As well as enjoying creative practice, his interests include recent and contemporary Western Australian art and artists, and investigating the notion of value in relation to arts and culture.
