I have been a professional fine artist since graduating from Newcastle university in the mid 80'S ,I have supplemented my studio work by teaching or gallery work. I am currently based in the North-East where I recently re-located from Cambridgeshire. I have shown widely across the northern region but also the South and London galleries. Most of my paintings are acrylic on canvas which combines the spontaneity of watercolour with the sturdiness of oil paint. Acrylic dries fairly quickly, so that I can generate an immediacy within the work as it progresses. This way, the paintings always retain the element of freshness that I am trying to capture . Other paintings are completed in oil paint which gives the work that jewel-like quality unique to oils. These technical experiences have enabled me to participate in demonstration classes for magazines ,books , workshops etc. .
