Born in 1966 in Arcadia, California. Deana Marconi was introduced to drawing by her great uncle, Gorge Crenshaw (the late cartoonist who created Belvedere, Nubbins, Nerdy, and many other cartoon features for late Walt Disney. . Deana enrolled in her first drawing class in her teens but believes most of her knowledge is self-taught. She believes in painting a subject, an artist has to know it. For a artist, direct observation on location is the primary way to become knowledgeable; to see the light and how it falls upon...or illuminates... a building or ground plane, and this is how she captures the moment. The core of my work comes from freedom. I am inspired by the synergy of nature, the play of energies in the process of creation. I work from the heart wishing to achieve 'no mind'. I am passionate to create and often move around diverse materials, acrylics, pencil, clay, therefore forming no patterns, no rules. I paint with my hands, and a brush creating a closer relationship to the subject and medium allowing myself to flow with the experience of the process itself.
