ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This is part of a series of paintings and drawings working in collaboration with British model Olivia Dunn. The basis of my work is life drawing and portraiture. This oil study captures a fleeting moment of thought and reflection. It is painted on board mounted on a deep frame (5cm) painted in the same base colour of blue-grey as the rest of the picture. This means it does not need to be framed and is ready to hang (hanging furniture attached) giving it a crisp, contemporary feel.

My Grandfather was an Artist, so I was taught to draw and paint from before I can remember. After leaving school in London, I went on to do a foundation course in Art. My favourite part of this was life drawing and painting and this has formed a practise that has continued ever since and still forms the basis of my work. The other aspect that interested me was the Philosophy of Art - Aesthetics - and so I went to do a degree in Philosophy at the University of Sussex, specialising in Art. I live and work in London, where I keep a studio. Charcoal and pastel drawings and oil painting are my preferred media and I like to bring semi-abstract elements to play in the predominantly figurative work that I do.
