ARTIST STATEMENT "Color is the key. The eye is the hammer. The soul is the piano with its many chords. The artist is the hand that, by touching this or that key sets the soul vibrating automatically." -Wassily Kandinsky I am currently working in acrylic, wood, clay, soapstone, and glass gaining most of my inspiration from Saskatchewan land, sky, water and people who live in harmony with the earth. When I start a painting I look forward to the challenge of making something beautiful. I choose to represent "˜place' as it is experienced and as it is remembered, always considering the characteristics of natural light and the influence it has on our perception. Like Kandinsky's statement there is so much more to our experience when our soul is engaged. Each painting, wood vessel and clay object gives me the opportunity to share my way of experiencing our world. I consider myself very fortunate when others enjoy and become engaged with my artwork.
