This sculpture coordinates with my original artwork, “One From Paint” which showcases my strong feeling towards the false, comically accessorized and insincere exteriors people of today feel compelled to display and the deep seeded hope for much needed change. This piece begins with tousled fabric, or curtain, giving the viewer the sense it has been pulled away uncovering and revealing the core of the piece. The core is half female torso and half tree trunk representing a transformation of sorts as the stone body separates from a strong, stable source. The skin's surface is heavy and layered with rough stone-like qualities and the torso itself is shallow and empty inside much like today’s high society. Within the cold walls of the cavity is a smaller piece of fabric, which is barely clinging on and a quiet, hidden nesting serpent. The emotions wrestle throughout the sculpture and upon closer inspection, you will find hope represented in the form leaves, eggs and even a butterfly growing out of top of the disheveled fabric, along with several displaced fingers breaking through the stone reaching for freedom, release and clarity. The title, “One From Stone” represents the extremely important first step of exposing then breaking down the falsehoods we work so hard to fabricate in order to begin anew, reconnect and reverse the damage. The original artwork measures 24" H x 30" W x 1.5"D with wrapped edges on stretched cotton canvas.

Florida based self-taught artist Diane Tacinelli, quiet and reclusive in life, speaks loudly through her work cutting through formalities and going straight to the core of her inspirations through the freedom of surrealism. She houses a lifetime of deep thoughts, concerns and burdens of society ranging from poverty, abuse and identity crisis to general overall imbalance as well as a great amount of hope and aspiration, which are released in the studio through spontaneous soul searching works. The inspirations of each piece created emerge alongside her contemplation and reflection and deliver the power to provoke a profound response. Her greatest release is working bare handed with concrete or clay with little or no use of tools, which results in a physically and visually satisfying bond linking body and mind to the work. As temperament and topics vacillate, so do her mediums and the creative flow will often transition to painting when a particular inspiration triggers a need for more detailed narrative. Her style of painting mirrors her sculptures in feel and flow with a surreal display of the allegory to be told. The quest to illustrate her empathy, sympathy, frustrations and present controversial questions is brought to life, layer upon layer, through her contributions of visual storytelling with the intention of awakening one’s own inner perception, exposing unexpected inquiry and reaction.
