My interest in the human figure resides in the desire to acquire better insight into the human being and his vast inner universe. Whenever I paint a portrait and I have the model in front of me, I know I have the opportunity to explore a new universe. I never know if it is I who has chosen the portrait or it is the portrait that has chosen me. I just know that through that portrait I can better interact with the person in front of me. As an artist, I think portraiture represents the greatest challenge, with infinite possibilities of approach and interpretation. Man in general is a fluid universe in continuous movement and change. My paintings capture only one moment in a person's life, a tiny part of an infinite sequence of moments that make up his or her inner universe. My goal is to accurately render the essence behind the face and to show the world the hidden beauty of a human being, a beauty that reveals itself only if we contemplate it with utmost empathy. Pandemic time gave me the opportunity as well to spend more time in the nature and to study it. I discovered the true beauty of nature through painting. So, I decided to dedicate more time studying the nature and its beauty.
