In this painting, a human-like figure positioned in a vertigo inducing spiral that never was, is trying to create resistance against this all consuming torque by rigidly trying to keep still its hand/appendix. The center of the painting’s movement seems to be located in a sun like circle at the bottom right corner. Both these forms are surrounded by a geometrical matrix of dots each in a different way.

I was born and raised in Cyprus. From a young age I had a strong interest in visual arts and literature. At the age of eleven I started taking art classes, which is where my interest in art history began. In the following years I continued to work with visual arts and writing. I moved to Greece to study medicine and developed a great interest in psychology and philosophy and their relationship with art, as well as the relationship between man and art; topics that are at the center of my works to this day. Recently I moved to Sweden to continue my training as a psychiatrist. I take inspiration from a wide range of artists, thinkers, and art movements. In more detail I draw inspiration from the artist and philosopher Braha L. Ettinger so much as by her artistic work but also from her work in aesthetic theory, artists Mark Rothko, Franz Marc, Henri Matisse, David Lynch, Vincent van Gogh, Salvador Dalí (especially his paranoiac-critical method), Piet Mondrian and Alekos Fassianos. From architecture and architectural theory, I'm greatly influenced by Christopher Alexander, Iannis Xenakis and Tom Turner's idea of post-postmodernism as a return to patterns and archetypal imagery. Greatly influenced by André Breton and the surrealism movement I try to stay true to the heart of surrealism. My visual language is one closer to abstract expressionism but also true to my own experiences and linage. In the studio I work mostly with acrylics, using paint brushes and painting knives. I’m usually striving to mix predetermined elements with spontaneity in colorful, vibrant compositions. Finally, the dot matrix is an important element of my work, following its own geometric rules and logic and most of the time overlapping a discordant background highlighting the possibility of coexistence.
