This painting was inspired by one of the world's most beautiful beaches, the Naples Beach, that I am so fortunate to enjoy. It is a place of beautiful light, fresh salty sea air, brilliant skies with sea and shore birds, a mostly calm blue, aqua and emerald green sea and colorful beach umbrellas, a place for relaxation and fun for children of all ages. I want to share this beauty I see and enable people to bring it into their homes. I love painting because painting is magical. It captures color and light which creates the illusion of reality. I especially love the medium of oils, the richness of color, the versatility, the spontaneity and excitement they create. Another reason I love to paint beach scenes is that I love to paint people, their natural grace in movement and relaxation and the universality of our shared human nature and experience.. My painting is always inspired by so many of my favorite artists that came before me as well as many of my contemporaries, across many styles, but especially Vermeer, the impressionists and post impressionists, the Nabis, and I find particular inspiration in the beach scenes of Americans Martha Walter and Edward Pothast. This painting was created by me using the finest archival and permanent artists' oils and materials. It is framed in a simple, Ambiance contemporary narrow white wood frame and is wired for immediate hanging.
