ABOUT THE ARTWORK

PIROPERRA, belongs to the pictorial series PERRA MALA, series inspired by the NEO PERREO or DEMBOW FEMINISTA, shameless and explicit musical genre, written and sung by women from different latitudes, authors such as Miss Bolivia, Sara Hebe, Rebeca Lane, Pajarita La Pau or Chocolate Remix, among others, link feminism with these rhythms derived from reggaeton. Exposing themselves as protagonists of their sexual pleasure, their gender freedom, their need to dance, to conquer themselves and to be part of a free group, a pack of BITCHES. The terms bitch, whore, fox, cat... are chewed and digested, until they are appropriated and resignified, they no longer function as insults but as a way of naming themselves from humor, irony and empowerment. PERREAR is dancing without complexes, it is a political act. In the PERRA MALA series, we find an imagery that repeats itself, such as the LGTBIQ+ flag, flares, lightning bolts, animal print, diamonds, happy face, facial gestures... creating symbols and meanings that wink at kitsch, a reflection of today's society materialistic and excessive in which we move.

My name is Rebeca Mayo, I was born one day with rain in the inconceivable city of Mexico, I grew up in a small town full of markets and street vendors, I have always thought that the world is a great show. I enjoy watching, I am pleased to have my head full of impossible scenes. I studied Fine Arts at the UGR in Spain, at USP in Brazil and at UABJO in Mexico. At the age of 25 I opened a store in the center of Granada and set up my own brand ENTRÓPIQA, in it I materialized all my curiosity. I have been a teacher at the SCHOOL OF ART GRANADA in the subject of SKETCHING AND CREATIVE PROCESS, later I decided. A nice house in the Albaicín neighborhood (UNESCO) to turn it into a guest house, after 3 years and 2 children I closed it to open myself again to the harakiri of the arts.
