Parklands Platter Print

My process involves creating the models for the work in physical reality in an area where I can control the reflections and lighting. I aim for a balance of both light and dark areas and position the objects for maximum reflective interest. I photograph the composition hundreds of times, moving the objects around .I’m aiming for the objects and reflections to talk to each other with moments of unexpected colour. I want the light and shadows to reveal the texture of the objects. I have found though experimentation that the overhead view conveys more accurately my intention. Still life tends toward a view suggesting observing from a distance. The viewer has just walked into a room and observed the objects on a shelf or window ledge or table. My work suggests examination, rather than observation.
