SHIPPING AND RETURNS

Past is Present is a painted low relief wood carving. The panel is completely carved and painted in full color. The approach to this image was to depict growth amidst a chaotic landscape of vines and roots, and oddly the symbolism came to fruition in my real life shortly after finishing this piece. ...

ARTIST STATEMENT As a wood block printmaker, I use the medium to draw with light and shadow. The organic grain of wood serves as a reminder of our connection to nature and the uniqueness of each piece. Plants symbolize growth and resilience, reflecting my own personal journey through many major life events including loss and renewal or rebirth. I started working with flowers as a result of these experiences and they’ve served as a potent system of symbols that I continue to explore in many labor intensive processes. I want my art to convey the fragility and strength of life, encouraging viewers to reflect on their connection to the natural world and how they can learn from and be inspired by the resilient forms of life growing around us.
