ABOUT THE ARTWORK
I've often wondered why some people are able to break free from dysfunctional family patterns while others repeat and repeat and repeat. I painted this trying to show the effort and vulnerability it takes to break free from those patterns. This woman is surrounded by sharp angles. She is vulnerable and unable to see clearly. Her head is down but she is still striving for freedom. She is each one of us building a better life for ourselves and our children. Breaking patterns so our children won't have too.
