The painting shows a squadron of high flying B17 Flying Fortress’s dropping their loads of ‘art frames’ onto Dresden in a daring daylight raid during WW2 1942. The plane called ‘Miss B-Have’ is flown by some 'alternate types' who have given the dropping of bombs a rest for this raid. Why are the bombers dropping art frames! Well one explanation you may consider is "it’s a squadron of renegade air crewmen taking art supplies instead of bombs into the war zone. The crews may feel they need to help the shell shocked artists of Dresden get re-established." The artist choose to use shades of blacks and grey's mainly because that is what we are all use to seeing in the old original movie clips and to recreate this he deliberately made some edges and line work 'furry' endeavouring to capture that ‘grainy’ look of the black & white celluloid. Though it wasn’t intentional by the movie makers at that time, the b & w celluloid with its blurred imagery & basic camera lenses were mostly unable to show any aircrew in detail, so the movies inadvertently created little empathy for the bomber crews but conversely drew our focus more onto these flying machines. These fascinating flying ‘muscle wings’ could only have ever come about through warfare, so just as the designers of the day had to create new aircraft innovations on a daily basis to win this this hell of a war, the artist of this scene has also been just as innovative, albeit in times of peace, and shows us another approach to how these craft could have been used. The painting has been done on 3mm composite MDF & not canvas as shown in the materials and does not have a frame.

1. As long as I can remember art has always been on the outer fringes of my life and it has only been in very recent times that I finally took up the palette & brushes. This has had an enormous uplifting impact on my personal life and I hope I live long enough to explore and enjoy the inner secrets others have found through art.
