ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Peace Roses show peachy-pink climbing roses and a cluster of crimson-red roses in a verdant green garden. A subtle image of the planet earth is in the sky. This is about an otherworldly vision of peace on earth. Peace Roses was inspired by a garden my mother planted in a burst of energy one day. Long after we moved away, I happened to be near our old neighborhood and on a whim, I pulled over and peeked through a knothole in the fence. What I saw took my breath away. Nature had taken its course and created a Shangrila of climbing rose vines and wisteria blossoms amid a yard overgrown with dandelions. It was one of the most beautiful things I've seen on Earth. When she was alive, I used to try to describe it to my mother but I don't think it's possible with words or paint to come close to the beauty she left behind with the simple act of planting a garden.
