ABOUT THE ARTWORK

SHIPPING AND RETURNS

My dear friend, Lindsey, a recent retiree from the Air Force inspired this painting. She is a force to be reckoned with. Still so young yet has been through more than one would imagine. She is truly an inspiration of strength and vulnerability. I wanted to capture her intense beauty.

Michele Ann Murtaugh, December 3, 1969, Sacramento,CA I began painting when a bit later in life, at the age of 30, and once I put down the first brush stroke, I was positively hooked. I am mostly self taught although I have attended workshops guided by the greats like Eloy Morales and Dirk Dzimirsky. Recently, I had the honor of painting a mural on the Historic Elks Tower in Sacramento as part of the Wide Open Walls Festival in 2018 My work focuses on the play of the feminine form and the negative space as a specific shape, which promotes the feeling of uncluttered atmosphere and is just as integral as the detailed figure. The energized gestures indicate a moment in time, and the figures themselves as strong, agile and vulnerable.
