I wonder what colours the 17th century painter Alexander Marshall had in his arsenal. If in general the answer is obvious - the more wealthy artist was, the more pure and varied were his colours. And what pigments were found at that time and available - this question for me, as an expert, is more than interesting! And from a lecture on the history of botanical painting, we know that: "Marshall composed the colours for his drawings himself, experimenting with pigments extracted from berries, flowers, roots, resins, and he also used copper and arsenic. This gave his drawings an extraordinary brightness of colour which has been preserved to this day." I don't know where to find copperbur and arsenic, and I don't really want to. Nowadays one can easily find similar colours without "heavy artillery". The main condition is to choose mixtures as close to the original as possible. I have tried to squeeze the maximum out of my rich colour palette, close to the shades of the 17th century. The work is on 100% cotton Saunders Waterford archival quality 300g/cm watercolour paper, using the world's finest watercolour paints with the highest index of lightfastness.

Ukraine
Hello. My name is Natalia and I live in Ukraine, in Kiev. To enjoy every new day, to create and to love - that's what is important for me now! Despite the fact that there is war in my country, I paint a lot. I paint - it means I live! I'm happy! My watercolors are my inner world. Nature inspires and I paint nature. Watercolor as a material fascinates by its subtlety. Everything is at the level of intuition and I know it's my material. I and watercolor- an integrated whole. At the moment there are 2 main directions in my work: abstracts and exact botanical drawings. The process of creating each work is an inspiration to me. Botanical painting accurately reproduces the structure and coloration of the plant. Abstract work gives free rein to my imagination and I write imaginary flowers and plants that live in me and my imagination. But one thing is certain - nature is perfect, it has no flaws. Since childhood I love to draw and observe plants. After graduating from drawing and science school, I decided to combine these two disciplines and become a botanical artist and illustrator. I am a watercolorist, graphic artist, calligrapher, ASBA (American Society of Botanical Arts) member, and am skilled in a variety of media, including watercolor, ink, colored and graphite pencils, and charcoal. I am a regular participant in international exhibitions and competitions. A very important event for me last year was the American Society of Botanical Artists ASBA exhibition "Dare to be Square", where my work was awarded and sold. This year my work was selected for the annual FABRIANOinAcqarello 2022. In my work I explore the depths and subtleties of the relationship between nature and man. I invite the viewer to experience the beauty of the world around them, to discover its perfection and subtlety - from the vein of a eucalyptus leaf to the curve of a rose petal. During last 8 years I wrote more than 2000 works. Many of them are in private collections in America, Germany, England, France, Denmark and Ukraine. Thank you for taking the time to visit my store, I am very pleased to meet you.
