About The Artwork

Snapdragon or Antirrhinum. I liked a legend about this flower in the myths of Ancient Greece. A bloodthirsty lion appeared in the forests of the city of Nimway, he killed everyone. Nobody could fight with him. The locals were in horror, they intended a quarantine and stayed at homes. Trading stopped and they suffered losses. So the king decided to sacrifice Hercules. But Hercules appeared to be brave and strong, so he killed the lion, tore off the skin and hung it on his shoulders. In honor of this, Goddess Flora decided to created a flower. Anyway I think that the flower is better than a certificate of honor or a medal :) I used high-quality watercolor cotton paper 300 gr/m2 and professional watercolor paints. The work is provided without a frame.

The theme of my work is the secret life of plants in a photorealism style. I like to find unusual plant angles and amusing compositions. You look, at an ordinary onion, and then you look closely — a golden fish. Or physalis — it was just a beautiful berry until it bent the sepals and turned into a bird. So one day, a grape became a centaur, and the chrysanthemum became a cocky young rooster. A similar story happened with cherries: they were ordinary cherries until a gust of wind turned the leaves into a peacock's tail.
