I am an Icelandic father, husband, musician and a painter. I was born in 1973 in Reykjavík Iceland. I started to explore and create art at young age. Later on I studied here in Iceland and also in Norway with the great master Odd Nerdrum. My main focus is on the oil painting, with its endless limits and excitement. My work is generally based upon philosophy and the relationship between the human spirit and the nature. I have a studio in Iceland and working on, opening another one abroad. What drives me to create is a question worth asking and answering. Waking up in the mornings, taking my kids to school, have coffee, and then go to my studio to work. Painting can sometimes be such a struggle, yet joyful experience. So many things can go wrong or right. I usually attack the canvas using my Old Holland oil paint, worn out brushes, palette knives, old rags, and my fingers. Painting with emotions, something special and unique, and hopefully I will leave something behind! All I desire, is to be in the studio or in the open making artwork, and my main drive is the longing to know more about the subject. The bottom line is; I want to grow. Mýrmann
