Welcome to my page. My name is Patrick Rowan. I was born in 1968 in Dublin, Ireland. I'm now based in Cheshire, UK. I am a full time artist. I have been painting, drawing and making since my teenage years. My painting was at one time figurative however, it has gradually become more and more abstract in nature through the years. What interests me about painting is the physical nature of paint, how it behaves and what it does so I try in a way to facilitate this. I like to try new things in my work. What is important to me is a sense of discovery and experimentation in my painting. I feel that this keeps my practice interesting and sustaining. I have had some formal art training however, most of what I have learnt about painting has come from my own practice and practical experience. I taught painting for a number of years to adult classes and I found this experience incredibly valuable as it really accelerated my own learning and development as well as the benefits of meeting other artists and the sharing of our ideas, thoughts and feelings about art.The most important things I have learned about painting are to keep going, paint what you like and paint with conviction always. I take pride in my work and I use good quality materials and paints to ensure a professional finish. I do not offer for sale any work which I would not be delighted to receive myself. My paintings are thoroughly inspected and properly packaged before they are posted to the client. Thank you for viewing my work and profile.
