ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Birds and nature inspires me. The world of people has become too scary for me and creating narratives about the natural world is my new obsession. I love Geese because they believe in teamwork. Did you know that if one falls out of line a Geese will honk to get them back in formation? I love painting the leaves on water and creating the reflection. My work takes patience but the process is worth it. It's a meditation that takes me to a better place.

My new bird series is polar opposite to my previous works. For three decades I created works about people, diversity, unity, communal exchange, and the news. As an LA native I spent my time sketching people in places of communal exchange. Barbershops, cafes, the LA art scene and even while riding the metro encompassed my world. The seismic shift taking place due to the political environment gender, identity, economics and Covid 19 changed my perspective.Now I seek serenity in nature preferring to draw and paint birds in different narratives. The birds bring me peace where the world can not.
