From the series 'Portal' solo exhibition at the HighLineNine. Works by itself or it could be paired in a diptych, triptych, etc. A door marks the difference between the public and private space, it faces the outside and inside, it is a connection between two worlds, two separate spaces. When we leave a space with limits, we enter another one which has limits, too. The freedom of leaving disappears. We are experiencing this as a society, specially when at the moment there are many closed doors. This exhibition intends to address border lines, boundaries, limits, lines, separation. There are invisible doors everywhere. Lives are constantly affected by them. These paintings separate the inside and outside world, radiating energy for the observer to absorb and process them to align with their own values and life experiences. Like open doors, this site-specific installation is meant to be a conversation starter, an escape, a welcoming invitation to connect at a human level through art, and reimagine the world that we share. Whatever each one of us dreams of it to be. The intention of this installation is to create something that cannot only be seen from outside, but also from within. I am opening these doors on the walls to give the viewer access into my inner world (an invitation for the viewer to enter this world and be part of my art).

In constant exploration, Vicky's work moves in different directions, approaching a variety of situations and dynamics. Embodied by an empirical investigation of the pictorial structure, where processes departing from spontaneous gestures evolve into elaborate and complex systems where improvisation, organization of form and space, and attention to detail are at its core. There is a consistency throughout the years within her work diversity, perceived and recognized by others as Barranguet's signature.
