ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This piece is inspired by my visit to Portobello Market in Notting Hill. This work depicts the experience my friends and I had at the market. What we ate, what we shopped and the things we saw formed the subject matter of this painting. The bottom right corner shows the graffiti we saw just as we reached Portobello Road. Then comes the blue and gold antiques. The market was full of small antique shops. The bottom right corner is me eating twist potatoes. Top left corner is Medha standing under an archway covered with leaves. Notting Hill is known for its colourful doors, the blue door is one of them. Shreeya standing next to a speed bump sign was waiting to cross the road as we head back home. Going through the photographs of my visit influenced me to make this painting. I hope the viewers are able to experience the beauty of Portobello Market and Notting Hill.
