"Portrait of my sister in her wedding kimono" Fine Art Print

Yumi was born in Okinawa, a sub-tropical island of Japan, and grew up in Yokohama, a port city South of Tokyo. she enjoyed painting since she was a child and painting became one of her essential ways to express herself.

After graduating from high school, she moved to the UK to study at University of the Arts London. She worked as a designer and artist in London for 15 years before moving back to Japan in 2024. She currently resides in Tokyo.

Her favourite subject matters are animals and seascapes, and she likes to paint both figuratively and imaginatively. She aims to capture the natural light, colour and movement, breathing life into the painting. Her favourite medium is watercolour; she likes the natural flow and freedom she can explore through this medium.

沖縄生まれ横浜育ち。ロンドン芸術大学、カンバーウェルカレッジ卒。特に動物、海の風景を描くのが好き。印象派の画家の影響を受け、絵の中に自然の光、色、動きを取り込みたいと創作している。好きな画材は水彩。水を含むと画用紙の上で自由に広がる水彩絵具の魅力を生かしつつ、シンプルだが繊細な筆遣いで、夢がかった雰囲気の絵を描いている。
