ABOUT THE ARTWORK
The inspiration for painting this most profound piece came from a visit to the Katherine Gorge in the Northern Territory of Australia. I felt a connection quite powerful it brought tears to my eyes. Nature has endless tales to tell and hidden treasures to reveal, for us to bear witness we need to stand in stillness and ‘see’! The landscape reflected in the still water created a kaleidoscope imbued with hidden images to be discovered. Shift the painting vertically the way I painted it, revealed is a totem pole of spiritual beings, symbols, animals and suggestions of female and male anatomy. The female anatomy is very dominant in some areas symbols of mother earths feminine energy. The painting is a mystery to the viewer. Displayed horizontally our human brain can recognise the land reflection in water.
