About The Artwork

This piece has much significance and meaning to me. Painted on it is the NEDA symbol in blue next to the body as a reminder that the inside is more important than the outside. This is why the body looks as it does. I look forward to finding this one a new home where it can continue to inspire. The color choice of purple shows elegance, wisdom, and strength as the blue promotes a calm feeling, while the pink adds love. For it is "the color of universal love of oneself and others" This piece I plan on donating 50% of my proceeds to NEDA which reflects the higher price of this piece.

My artwork represents my personal journey towards self-discovery and recovery from mental health struggles, particularly my eating disorder. Initially, I drew inspiration from the female form, seeking to challenge societal standards of beauty through representational art. However, as my recovery progressed, my creative focus shifted towards expressive work, utilizing my emotions as a tool for self-expression. My creative process involves immersing myself in music that resonates with me, selecting a medium that aligns with my mood, and allowing my unconscious mind to guide my hand. I utilize colors that evoke positive emotions and experiment with various tools to create textures and lines which are in fact my innermost feelings through mark making. My artwork reflects the struggles I have faced with anxiety, depression, and autism, yet consistently emerges as something beautiful and distinctive. Through my art, I aim to challenge societal perceptions of mental health and autism, demonstrating that there is beauty in these struggles and they need not be stigmatized. Ultimately, my work serves as a representation of the transformative power of art as a means of healing and self-expression. I hope to inspire others to embrace their own struggles and to find beauty and strength in their journey towards recovery.
