I love the natural world. I was born and raised in the south of England, but have since moved steadily north. I now live in a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in North Yorkshire, a perfect base for observing and painting the natural world. I have a background in graphic design and illustration for book publishers in London and Bristol, but I am now focussed on painting using acrylics on canvas. I am combining my love of studying birds and animals with a life-long passion for drawing and painting human portraits and the natural world around me. I am fascinated and calmed by the effect of strong sunlight on a subject, either in pools of light across a landscape or up close, highlighting a subject. I am enjoying experimenting with using household implements along with artist brushes to spread, stipple and work paint for desired effects. I paint the things that I like looking at. My hope is that others might be moved by these artworks too.
