"PURPLE WINGS" "Fly high, purple wings Gilded, stronger than before Survivor of life.” ~ Haiku by Mayumi Cruz This Kintsugi-inspired creation brings to mind the Japanese philosophy of putting back things together with gold bonding, rendering what was once broken and damaged to be transformed, beautifully healed and imperfectly unique. Like butterfly wings, our lives are fleeting and fragile, and as we navigate through our days, we are faced with struggles and challenges that may affect us deeply; maybe even break us. The principle of Kintsugi teaches us that we can put back the pieces together, mend them, and learn to embrace the cracks.

Ever since I can remember, I have always been doodling, drawing, and sketching. As a child, I used to create comic strips and painted on illustration boards using poster paints. Slowly, I dabbled in watercolor and oil pastels. Presently. acrylic is my preferred medium on my paintings. Occasionally, I add mixed media into my artworks to infuse more meaning and depth to my creations. Basically a self-taught artist, my style tends to be a blend of realism and expressionism, but I am also able to create in a variety of styles, appealing to diverse artistic tastes and aesthetics. I believe art should tell stories and evoke emotions. My colors are vivid, vibrant and compelling as the stories they tell. Aside from painting, I am a graphic artist, website designer and a freelance editor. I am also a screenwriter and an award-winning author with 16 books published under my name.
