This painting is one from a collection of paintings I call Yellow Star. The collection originated from my painting House Dog, that Features the primary colors, yoellow, blue and red in different shades with a strong brush work of white lines to highlight and abstract the figure. The subjects from this paintings come from a mini sketchbook that I filled with single line sketches as part of a creative exercise that I call Spontaneous Creativity where I just draw from my subconscious, detaching from the drawing and just feeling the pen as it moves through the paper. When done with the drawing I often see happy surprises with figures and subjects I didn’t intent for but that presented themselves on the drawing. From this I select my favorites and transfer them to the canvas where I start applying harmony with colors and highlights to achieve my desired outcome. In this collection I brought the colors to a more pastel and contemporary value and kept the same line work with a white highlight. Part of this collection is on show at NYA Gallery in TriBeCa in New York City and open for view during the month of August.
