The inspiration behind my painting stems from a historic event that revolutionized the wine industry: the triumph of Stag's Leap Wine Cellars' Cabernet Sauvignon at the 1976 Paris Wine Tasting, famously known as the Judgement of Paris. This remarkable achievement saw the Californian wine claim first place, surpassing esteemed first and second growth French wines, a feat previously deemed unattainable for American wines. This victory not only elevated Stag's Leap Wine Cellars to global fame but also marked a turning point for California wine making, catapulting it onto the international stage. The painting seeks to capture the essence of this momentous occasion, celebrating the wine's journey from the vineyards of Napa Valley to its pivotal role in reshaping the global wine landscape.
