REPENTANCE Print

I created this work during Nyepi - Balinese New Year as well known as day of silence. During this day people are not allowed to go out, turn on lights, cook food, listen to music or watch TV, internet is off. Days is recommended to be spent in silence, meditation and self-reflection. At that moment I was going through self-discovery process, where I was analysing my relationships with outer world. And I realised, that actually haven't been playing roles I should, such as being a daughter or a friend. Most of the time I was taking a role of teacher, but not the loving human I am supposed to be. After realisation came to me, I felt bad seeing true me. And I let all those feeling go in this painting by performing multiple bows to all people I offended in my life. I was thinking of a person, covering my body in paint and bowing. If you look closer to the painting, you'll see imprints go my body, or some parts of it, which could touch the canvas in a bow. For me this work is very personal, it marks the transformative moment, the day I decided to live differently.
