ABOUT THE ARTWORK

'Radiating II' sees an abstraction in the depiction of mountains, a common theme in the artist's work. Inspired by her Chinese ink paintings of landscapes, this new style is a contemporary reinterpretation of her work. This painting is a surrealist dreamscape with a lot of movement in the mountains. It is a representation of moving energies and interconnection with self and nature. This painting has radiant energies from the skies that moves outwards to the mountains and reverberates like an echo on everything it touches.

Nicole Tang

Trinidad and Tobago

Caribbean artist with influences from beautiful and vibrant biodiversity in her home country, Trinidad and Tobago. Having a playful and dynamic artistic style that is experimental, she explores different styles, from using vibrant and fauvist inspired palettes to a monchrome. She is primarily inspired by Chinese landscape ink paintings that have evolved into a more contemporary expressive style. Her most recent works consist of monchromatic ink paintings that see a greater abstraction of forms, expression and playfulness in design overlays. Her use of ink is therapeutic and meditative where one has to understand the natural flow of ink and how it interacts with layers, water and the paper in creating forms. There is a level of control and letting go in the creative process. Understanding this flow of ink is refelctive of undestanding the flow of life.
